full docs are coming soon. for now, you can check the mustardy repository →

how to install

download the latest version for macOS or Linux from github releases. you can also build it from source using the instructions in the README.

controls

command line

the app ships a command for agents and scripts. it is the same binary as the editor: give it arguments and it runs headless instead of opening a window.

usage

mustardy trim <input> [options]

this removes the pauses and writes <input>-trimmed.mp4 next to the source. on macos, run mustardy install-cli once to put the command on your PATH. on linux the packaged app already does.

examples

mustardy trim talk.mp4
mustardy trim talk.mp4 -o cut.mp4 --drop 24 --min 0.5 --no-normalize
mustardy trim talk.mp4 --dry-run --json

options

parameterdefaultwhat it does
-o, --output <path><input>-trimmed.mp4output file
--drop <dB>30how far below talking a stretch counts as a pause (8 to 35)
--min <seconds>0.9shortest pause to remove
--normalizeoneven out the audio
--no-normalizeskip audio normalization
--normalize-amount <0..1>0.7normalization strength
--no-visualskip the picture-change scan (faster, less precise)
--dry-runreport the cuts, write nothing
--jsonmachine-readable output on stdout
-h, --helpshow help

json output

with --json, the result goes to stdout as JSON and progress stays on stderr, so an agent can parse it cleanly:

{
  "output": "talk-trimmed.mp4",
  "removed": 18.4,
  "dropDb": 30,
  "minPause": 0.9
}
